Avery Dennison Corporation has opened a new Knowledge Center for educating, training and sharing the best practices involved in label printing. Located at Avery Dennison’s premises in Bangalore, India, this center is the first of its kind for the South Asia region. The facility was inaugurated in a ceremony held on Aug. 18, 2012, which was followed by a guided tour of the Knowledge Center and networking sessions for industry partners.

According to Anil Sharma, managing director, Avery Dennison Materials Group South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, “Avery Dennison is committed to supporting the ongoing development of the South Asia labeling industry. This new Bangalore Knowledge Center will ensure that industry stakeholders in the region have all the information they need to extract the full benefit from pressure-sensitive materials and realize the great opportunities for growth in our developing economy.”

Avery Dennison has teamed up with key industry partners Gallus, Esko, DuPont, Flint, Alpha Sonic, Rotometrics, Tarng Yun and Zecher, to create a “real time” experience of what goes into the making of a label. The Knowledge Center will demonstrate the entire labeling process on the latest machinery, beginning with prepress, printing and converting, right through to label application. It will showcase the latest trends and innovations in the pressure-sensitive label industry, as well as holding training and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Sharma adds, “With the launch of the Knowledge Center, Avery Dennison has again affirmed its commitment to the Indian packaging industry. This unique facility will enable the adoption of pressure-sensitive labeling in India to occur faster, taking packaging to a whole new growth phase. Avery Dennison has provided a platform for stakeholders from the packaging and marketing domain to better understand the benefits of pressure-sensitive labeling.”

Working closely with its partners and customers, Avery Dennison has been offering packaging and labeling solutions in South Asia for more than 15 years, with a strong presence in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The company now has major manufacturing operations in Bangalore, Gurgaon and Pune. In addition, it maintains a network of strategically located sales and distribution centers, which includes facilities in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The company has invested $50 million in India alone and now employs about 3,000 people throughout South Asia.
